So I just am going to write a short note about the wonderful time I had while putting on a workshop for a High School Leadership Symposium at the university of Prince Edward Island. The session titled "Thinking Globally, Acting Locally" was a pleasure to put on and being able to take in the keynote of the symposium from Dr. Samantha Nutt who is the founder and Executive Director of War Child Canada. This was an excellence starting point for the students that attended my session. I had opened the session with showing a video from the "Hometown Baghdad" series which focused on the issues that are problems with attending university in Baghdad while there is conflict happening then went into local issues and global issues and how they are connected and what can youth do to help address them.
After the session there was a procession Prince Edward The Earl of Wessex to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of PEI. Prince Edward who does a large amount of work with youth through various ways, one being The Duke of Edinburgh Awards also had a private meet and greet with the students who attended the Student Leadership Symposium. It was an excellent way to reward the student leaders not to mention it was an excellent opportunity for myself.
